Guests generally appreciate the cleanliness and affordability of Comfort Suites Salisbury I-85, particularly citing the friendly staff, especially Michelle at the front desk, and the simple breakfast. However, concerns regarding noise from the interstate, inconsistent front desk service, and maintenance issues – including bed bugs, broken appliances, and poor security – are frequently raised.
I want to take a moment to recognize Michelle at the front desk. She was absolutely amazing and genuinely kind from the moment I arrived. Michelle went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and cared for, and it honestly made a huge difference during my stay. She was patient, attentive, and truly compassionate in a way you don’t see very often anymore. Before I checked out, she even baked fresh cookies, which was such a thoughtful and unexpected gesture. Employees like Michelle are the heart of a business, and she deserves real recognition — and honestly, a raise. Thank you, Michelle, for being such a bright spot and for making people feel valued and appreciated.
The lady at the desk should not be dealing with the public. I felt like I was an unwanted guest immediately. The room was spacious and clean and the breakfast was decent. But.That.Traffic! The interstate is so loud and made it impossible to sleep. The guest services in the morning was much more friendly.
We were greeted by a lovely staff member. Her name is Diane and she was just wonderful. Traveling from Louisiana it's so nice to be greeted by someone who so professional and kind. Thank you Diane! She was working overnight when we came in. The rooms where clean and we were very comfortable. The only thing it can use is more lighting outside. Overall great stay.
Enjoyed my recent stay here. Room was very clean and looked just like the photos online. Staff was pleasant and friendly, and the breakfast was simple but good. The shower had great water pressure and there was plenty of parking. One thing to note - if you're a light sleeper, this hotel is RIGHT next to I-85, so we were able to hear some light highway noise in our room. I sleep with ear plugs anyway so I was fine.
Checked in late in the evening for a two nights stay. The room cards didn't work so I had to go back down. The woman behind the desk was very engrossed in her phone. We got new cards that worked until the next morning when they didn't again. The breakfast was not good at all. On the first morning grabbed biscuits and gravy, both of which were still ice cold. The second morning breakfast wasn't much better; with only two sausage patties in the pan and plenty of customers. I sat there for over 30 mins along with others and we never saw the woman working the breakfast area, so I gave up. The morning front desk lady was stretched too thin as I saw her trying to work the desk and help the cleaning staff. Which brings me to cleanliness; debris in elevators, cookie pieces around the iced water container, and breakfast tables that do not get wiped down. Common touch areas like elevator buttons and coffee machines had a "greasy" appearance. We had planned to do laundry however the dryer vents directly into the laundry room so at this point we decided not to. We will not be staying here again and will pay the extra for the Marriott in the area. Normally we are Marriott or Hilton people but thought we would give it a shot. Hard pass
We stay almost exclusively at Choice Hotels and this one is solid. Rooms were clean but had an odd musty smell at first. A little air freshener resolved the problem. I don't know if it was lingering odors from the previous night's residents or the fact that they just removed wet towels from the room. I'm really sensitive to smell. The front desk was friendly enough but when I arrived I think she was on a personal call (on her cell phone). No bed bugs in the room i was in (that's the biggest deal breaker for me). I asked for the quiet side of the hotel away from the highway and I recommend that. There was a lot of racing on the interstate. I would stay there again as it was affordable and clean. One comment to add. In my opinion there should always be 1 backup roll of TP in a hotel bathroom. The room didn't have this. I don't think that's too much to ask. Otherwise, the room we were was nicely kept.
This place should be shut down. The only nice staff member in the whole building is a male named Kelly. I was in town on a business trip and chose this hotel because of the reviews. The first couple of nights, went pretty smoothly. Then on the last day BED BUGS were found in my room, crawling on the WALLS. I went to the desk and asked Kelly what could be done and if he could come inspect the room. He said sure that was no problem. He came up to the room inspected the "usual" areas that these bugs are found and said he could not find anything. When I asked if the hotel has had a bed bug problem his exact words were "Not really". He offered to bring me trash bags to bag my things up to lessen the probability of taking them home with me. He told me that they could refund me for 1 night of my stay, however that did not happen. When I was checking out, the MANAGER Maria (Marie, maybe) butted into a conversation that I was having on the phone about the incident and stated that I was lying to who I was talking to because they do not have any MALE staff. When I asked who the man named Kelly was that was working the front desk at night, she then remembered that she does in fact have a male employee. She was completely rude and nasty. I did tell her that I will be calling corporate and she said "Okay, good luck." Just stay far away from this place. They need to take care of the bed bug problem and the attitude problem of the MANAGER of all people.
DO NOT GO TO COMFORT SUITES FOR EXTENDED STAY. Nothing was comforting or sweet about this place. The only reason they get one star is because zero wasn’t an option. The front desk was the only thing good about this place. The rooms are made to look modern, but in reality it’s just like a movie set. The curtains are literally stitched to the wall and cannot move. The lights from the outside parking lot are so bright that they will keep you up and there’s nothing you can do about it because the curtains don’t move. There wasn’t even any soap in the shower! How in the world do you have shampoo and conditioner available in the shower, but no body soap?? Soap is the one thing that makes a shower, you know, A SHOWER! Sleeping was so horrible. There’s an air conditioner in the corner of the room blocked by the bed, causing everyone sleeping on that bed to freeze up like it’s winter while everyone in the rest of the room burns. I thought I could at least watch a good show, so I turned on the TV and clicked the Netflix button on the remote… but guess what? Netflix doesn’t even work on this TV. Not to mention there is no immediate water available near your room. And they treat you like a child during breakfast time. If you go to get orange juice from the dispenser your cup looks like it’s been diluted with water. 90% water and 10% orange juice. Where in the world was all that water when I was 4 floors up and needing to quench my thirst? Also, the eggs taste like plastic. It’s like someone ripped up a styrofoam and tossed it in there because they were lacking the proper seasonings to make it somewhat enjoyable. And near the end of the breakfast time the service lady must have been in a rush because she immediately ran over and turned off the juice machines while people were still trying to make their plate. What is that lady in a rush for?? She could’ve at least waited for us to finish. I know for sure that if I were her superior, she absolutely would not be working there anymore. The experience there was truly horrendous. Unless you’re willing to stay there overnight thirsty, not wanting to shower, and possibly wanting to be blinded by the bright lights from the window with curtains that don’t work, then you should not come to this place.
The worst $200 a night I have ever spent. Front desk person could care less about greeting a customer, rude as hell. After we checked in we were told without a concern or apology that the elevator isn’t working and we have to drag our luggage up the stairs. And yeah no carts around sorry. Floor smelled like weed fest. Breakfast that we glanced looked nasty. Someone’s car was broken into based on of the reviews. A homeless guys approached us while we were loading our vehicle. For the record it’s not one person on the front desk was rude, it’s all of them. Guy in the evening shift complained that he gets all the shit because he is on the second shift. No remorse no apology. The woman working at the front desk smoking right outside the door blowing smoke in your face while you go in and out. And that’s the only time she got up from her chair. Save your money and sleep in your car.
I stayed here for 2 nights in mid April. My vehicle along with many others was broken into on a Friday night/early Saturday morning. The back passenger window was smashed open, my vehicle was ransacked, and multiple items were stolen from me. The parking lot is dimly lit and when camera footage was reviewed it was not possible to view the assailants or obtain any information regarding the vehicle they used to escape. So in short, the security at this hotel is very minimal. I spoke to an assistant manager recently who didn't even offer a refund for my stay or any kinda of real condolences. The hotel itself is fine. Its average, nothing special. But the lack of security is a real problem. The hotel is right off the highway which makes it an easy target for thugs who can easily enter the parking lot, ransack a bunch of vehicles, and then get back onto the highway to escape, which is exactly what happened. Again, about 10 vehicles were broken into in a matter of minutes and they escaped without being detected. So all in all, it has cost me thousands of dollars to stay at this hotel for 2 nights as now I have to replace EVERYTHING that was taken from me and replace my vehicle window. Think twice before staying here and if you do, don't leave anything of value in your vehicle.
