The Grove House is a secluded retreat praised for its serene outdoor environment, extensive accommodations for large groups, and thoughtful amenities provided by owner Ellen. However, guests should be aware that some interior areas may be dated, and specific amenities like linens require planning. That said, the atmosphere is widely regarded as healing and restorative.
What a fabulous place for a getaway. With the choice of renting the whole Grove house, one of the yurts or the cabin. There is a labyrinth to walk and lots of nature to enjoy. A fabulous place to get in touch with your spiritual side and with nature.
This was the perfect getaway for our family of three! We stayed in the Thoreau Cabin. It was very clean and relaxing. Ellen was an amazing hostess (and her pup Murphy)! Best sleep I've gotten in years!!! Will definitely visit again for our next trip to the NC Zoo ? Thank you Ellen!!!
Sacred Grove is a little slice of heaven in the woods! My first visit there in 2018 stepping on the grounds, I found it instantly peaceful. Since then I have stayed there several times and found the Grove a place where I come back to nature and have experienced several breakthroughs through active and passive activities like doing the ropes course with a group or meditation. It’s a magical reprieve to recharge my batteries from the sometimes complicated and complex world. Ellen is a wonderful, caring host who has cultivated a beautiful atmosphere throughout the grounds. This is a perfect place for weekend getaways, week long retreats and everything in between. I highly recommend Sacred Grove if you’re looking to connect with nature, yourself, or take a group of people there to reach for a higher level of connectedness and achievement. Truly, this place is MAGICAL!!! ????????
Sacred Grove is truly a sacred space. The amazing beauty of nature is matched with the peaceful energy that surrounds you as you step onto the grounds. It is beautifully enhanced with fire circles, quartz crystals, sitting areas, sweat lodges and a dance arbor. In addition, the labyrinth gives you an opportunity to delve into deep reflection. Meetings are held in a spacious, comfortable, heated/cooled yurt. The Grove house, which includes a full kitchen, living room, dining area, etc., has options for your sleeping comfort needs as do the smaller more private structures on the property. There's always the option to camp on the grounds, too! A big kitchen in the log house allows for groups to provide meals for their participants. The proprietress, Ellen Whiteside, is warm, friendly and very accommodating. Yes, she is my friend and I assure you that my review is my honest experience from having spent many days and nights there attending numerous events.
My home away from home. I have stayed at Sacred Grove Retreat a few times now. Even though I am local I find this stay and true wonderful retreat. I love the Thoreau Cabin. It is small , quaint and perfect for one or two to relax. Being a visual artist, I retreat there for all the inspiration and calm that I need to produce that in my artwork. The cabin is my choice but Ellen has other options for more than one person. Ellen is that most precious and accommodating proprietor of this great " sacred place to be". She understands ones need for privacy. Walking the calming lovingly laid out paths within the wooded area brings nature back to me as I stroll and see the little niches of carefully laid out items of earthy content that she has intentionally added to make your stroll awesome and requires you to stop briefly and say " ahhhhhhhhh" I love this place .... Sacred Grove Retreat.. whether it is one person or more, talk to Ellen about your needs .
I would give this place as many stars as I can and a star more than that to ELLEN , the owner at retreat. She was a blessing for us when we were looking for a place for our wedding with stay for the guests. We had a 3 day wedding and all the guests stayed on Location (30 guests). She has a beautiful place and accommodates every request of yours. All our guests were also raving about the place. Its Huge, Tranquil, has different location for each event and there are a lot of things to do around. It is a Treasure. She was even there to help when my Wedding planner forgot to get Chairs we requested....she borrowed from her neighbor and got them for us......You send her a text and she gets things in place for you. We will surely celebrate our anniversary here.
This property is beautiful and peaceful. The house met all the needs we had and I appreciate how Ellen accommodated our wishes. The carpets are a bit stained and the upstairs was a bit dusty, but it didn’t stop us from having a great time.
Quiet place in the country!
We had a wonderful time. This is a beautiful, peaceful country home.I would love to stay there again. It was very comfortable, and everythingthat we needed to cook dinner and breakfast was provided.Ellen is a very fine host. I highly recommend this lovely farmhouse.
16 of us came from different states for a reunion in Mt Pleasant. Ellen’s place was perfect for us to reconnect and visit before becoming part of a bigger group. We had everything we needed and enjoyed our stay very much.
